Coat of Arms:
Shield Gules with base wavy of Argent and Azure, in chief a lion rampant barry of Or and Azure, armed and tongued Azure, the bars Azure semy of altogether 17 bezants, in between a fortress Or masoned Sable with windows Sable. Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "PÓVOA DE SANTA IRIA UF VILA DO FORTE DA CASA".
Meaning:
The lion is representing former Póvoa de Santa Iria commune and the fortress former Forte da Casa commune.

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and blue. The coat of arms was the same one as current ones but mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank).

Presentation of Póvoa de Santa Iria

Póvoa de Santa Iria Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Vila Franca de Xira Municipality (q.v.); it had 40 404 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 4.1 km². It gained the rank of a city on 24 June 1999.

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and green.

Coat of arms

Shield Or, in base a bar wavy Azure charged with a barrulet wavy Argent, a fortress Gules masoned Sable with windows Sable, in chief a branch of olive Vert fruited Sable. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "VILA DO FORTE DA CASA".
Meaning:
The golden colour is alluding to the local fields of wheat. The olive branch is alluding to the production of oil in present and past. The "Vauban"-fortress is one of three fortifications of the lines of Torres Vedras and is also alluding to the commune's name. The base wavy is representing river Tejo.

Forte da Casa Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Vila Franca de Xira Municipality (q.v.); it had 11 056 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 4.0 km².
