About the flag
It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a yellow and blue quartered background (town rank). Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário do Governo : I Série in 1939.05.02.

The arms are argent above three wavy fesses azure in counterchief and between an orbicular cross gules at dexter and a cross patty gules voided an escutcheon charged with five plates per saltireand on a chief gules a feather or per fess. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE REI".

Presentation of Vila de Rei
Vila de Rei municipality had 3242 inhabitants in 2001, and it is divided in 3 communes, covering 191,6 km². It is part of: Castelo Branco District, traditional province Beira Baixa, 1999 ref. adm. region Beira Interior, C.C.R. / NUTS II Centro and NUTS III Pinhal Interior Sul. "Vila de rei" means "king’s town", showing a royal historical connection which is reflected in the _quina_escutcheon.
