The Regulations on flag of Orenburg were adopted on March, 26, 1998 with Decision No 50 of Orenburg city Duma. According to these Regulations:
The flag of Orenburg is a rectangular field, consisted of three horizontal stripes: white stripe at the top (2/3 of flag-width), blue stripe at the middle (1/6 of flag-width), red stripe at the bottom (1/6 of flag-width). Ratio is 1:2. There are coat of arms of Orenburg in the centre of white stripe. The staff of the flag have metal finial.

Sometimes flags with ratio 2:3 used unofficially.

First flag of Orenburg (city) was adopted by City Duma on February, 6, 1996 (Decision #7). The flag was square white-blue-red tricolor with the arms of Orenburg in the centre. Author of drawing — I.Kuznetsov. I never saw this flag really made (I think it was “paper flag” only). But in the end of 1996 I saw analogous flags with ratio 2:3.

Decorative flags

Since 2001 the decoration flags are used in Orenburg. The official flag of Orenburg is too complex and too expensive. That’s why city Administration decorated the streets of the city with hundreds simple striped flags: white-blue-red-white-blue-red (4:1:1:4:1:1). Decoration flags are used in holidays (City Day, May Day, Victory Day etc.)
