Vinica (in Hungarian Ipolynyék) has 2.037 inhabitants (90,5% Hungarian; 1990 census). The village was in the Ipolynyék district of Nógrád (in Slovakian: Novohrad) County of the Kingdom of Hungary to 1919/1920 (Czechoslovakian occupation / Treaty of Trianon). 1920-1938 part of Czechoslovakia, 1938-1945 part of Hungary (by Decision of Vienna). The treaty of Paris reallocated it to Czechoslovakia. Renaissance-Classicist Roman Catholic church, mansions.
