Description of flag
It is a quarterly divided square flag. The 1st and 4th quarter are showing the white Greek cross in a red field of the Order of St. John. The 2nd and 3rd quarter are showing the personal arms of the grandmaster. It is a yellow field divided by a black saltire, which is superimposed by five white scallops, one in each corner and one in the centre, all the scallops are upright.

The flag of Isla (City of Sanglea) appropriately nicknamed Senglea, shows the arms of Grand Master Claude de la Sengle (reigned 1553-1557), "Or on a saltire Sable five escallops Argent": http://www.smom-za.org/smom/grandmasters/48.htm

Claude de la Sengle was the 48th Grand Master of the Order, from 11 September 1553 to 18 August 1557. His arms are shown on a 125 grani postage stamp released by the Poste Magistrali of the Order: http://www.smom-za.org/grandmasters/48.htm.
