Description
From the Singha Beer source:
The Royal Yacht's Flag (B.E.2440) [_1897 AD_]
This is a red flag with a white elephant - in full caparison - standing on a dias [_sic, probably "dais"_] facing the flagpole. In accordance with a Royal Command issued by King Rama I [_1782-1809 AD_], the flag was originally designed in the form of a red flag with a white "chakra" in the middle denoting the Royal Yacht. Later on, in B.E.2440 [_1897 AD_], the design was changed – by the Royal command of King Rama V – to emerge as the version seen here. This version has been in use until B.E.2460 [_1917 AD_].
Note that it is almost identical to the War Ensign 1891-1910, rather than to the royal yachts ensign image at the top.
Santiago Dotor, 12 Nov 1999
Those two descriptions – red flag with white chakra and red flag with white elephant – look strikingly similar to the national flag up to 1855 and War Ensign 1891-1910.
