Hakkari University (website), established in 2008, is composed of 5 Faculties, 1 School, 3 Vocational Schools and 2 Graduate Schools. Some of these structures were formerly connected to the Van Year University, while other were created from scratch.

The flag of the university (photo,photo,photo,photo,photo) is white with the university's emblem.
The emblem, featuring a fritillary, was adopted on 8 April 2013 by Decision No. 3 of the University's Senate.

Designed by Şahin Dursun, graduated from the Department of Graphic Arts at Süleyman Demirel University, the emblem was selected among 172 proposals submitted between 25 December 2012 and 1 March 2013.
