Gahanna, Ohio (U.S.) (original) (raw)
Chapter 103.02 of the Gahnanna City Code - OFFICIAL CITY FLAG.
(a) There is hereby adopted an official City flag of the City of Gahanna.
(b) The flag of the City is blue with three white stars. The three stars are from the official corporate seal and have been integrated into one representing "Three in One".
(Ord. 26-84. Passed 3-20-84.)
A local vexillologist named John Spinelli made a presentation to the city council about changing its flag, as can be seen in the council meeting minutes of June 10, 2024. In his presentation, Spinelli says that the Gahanna Foundation is willing to create a city flag at no cost. The head of The Flag Lady, Lori Watson, is also present, supporting Spinelli and assuring that she is happy to help develop a new city flag. It appears so far, no action has been taken however.
After receiving records from the city clerk, Spinelli provided some information regarding this flag, mentioning that the flag was adopted under the term of mayor Jim McGregor. The flag was designed by the mayor's secretary at the time, John Breen, with the help of other individuals. The adoption of a Gahanna flag was caused by a request from Mayor Dana G. Rinehart of Columbus, who asked surrounding cities to send their city flags to display at the Columbus City Council Building.

Sadly, I'm not sure about the white flag with the city emblem. Could it be that the city is using two flags?
