The Coat of Arms
Quote from the Rhode Island Tercentenary Commission:
"Per pale dexter argent a hill vert, sinister azure three pallets undy argent (representing a water fall), on a chief gules a shuttle argent. Shield divided vertically. The right side a green hill on silver, the left the the vertical wavy stripes on blue, with a red stripe across the top of the shield on which is a silver shuttle. The shuttle is of course symbolic of the textile industry."

Police Department

[ [flag]](../images/u/us-riwoo-pol.gif) image by Ethan Dubrow, 9 June 2024

The flag of the Woonsocket Police Department is similar to the standard flag. The PD flag is also divided into three vertical sections but evenly this time (1:1:1). The middle section is white with the city seal centered, and the lateral sections are magenta-red. In the top-right corner is a white anchor, and directly underneath it is a ribbon with the state motto "HOPE". The ribbon has a white outline, and the state motto is also in white.
