Koasek Traditional Band of the Sovereign Abenaki Nation ~ If you come in peace, your are welcome!
Koasek (Cowasuck) Traditional Band of the Sovereign Abenaki Nation, People of the White Pines.
Vanja Poposki, 8 February 2013
We, the Koasek Traditional Band of the Sovereign Abenaki Nation, trace the origin of our tribe back over 180 years. The Abenaki Nation has inhabited our land for over 10,000 years. Our home land is Ndakinna, which incorporates Eastern Canada, and what are now known as the New England States. Our tribal band originated in what is now called Vermont. However, our families traveled all of Ndakinna and called the entire area home. We had no borders and even today, we dont recognize the borders. Ndakinna is our homeland. The Koasek Traditional Band of the Sovereign Abenaki Nation is divided into three (3) groups, located over the New England area: the Koasek of the Koas located in Vermont, the Koasek Traditional Band of Vermont headed by Chief Nathan Pero, and finally the Koasek Traditional Band of New Hampshire covering New England and Eastern Canada, headed by Chief Paul Bunnell.
