- Mikhail Revnivtsev was born on 16 December 1957 in Saratov, Russia; He died on 23 December 2012 of leukemia. He was 55 years old.
- After receiving his education at the Saratov State Medical Institute, Mikhail was an officer in the medical service of the Russian Air Force between 1981-1998. After leaving the military in 1998 he worked as the Chief of the Office for Organization and Control of the Engel's municipality administration for the region of Saratov.
- In the early 1970s Mikhail was one of the developers of a Russian vex-bulletin (The Flag) until it was prohibited by the KGB. In 1975, he was one of the founders of Volga Club of Vexillology.
- In 1993, he organized a special "mailing list" for vexillologists of the former USSR using the standard postal system because the Internet was not yet in common use in Russia at that time.
- In the 1990s he was founder of the Russian Centre of Vexillology and Heraldry (RCVH), and in the 2000s, he began moderating a Yahoo Russian language e-mail forum called RussoVex.
- He took part in designing the coat-of-arms and flag of Engels City, was author of the official description in the regional laws about the coat-of-arms and flag of the Jewish Autonomous Region, and a member of Heraldry Commission of the Region of Saratov.
- He published many vexillological essays and articles in both Russian and other vexillological magazines, including Gerboved, The Flag Bulletin, and in the Czech publication Vexillologia, to name a few. In the process he also contributed valuable images and information to our FOTW pages.
- Although Mikhail had no personal flag, he liked and used the flag of RCVH, which he designed.
