The Dawasir Tribe

The Dawasir tribe originates from the Wadi Al-Dawasir in southern Nejd (now in Riyadh Province, central Saudi Arabia). Today, they are spread across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the Emirates and Kuwait. Estimated population is ~ 6 million, making them one of the largest Arab tribes.

The Dawasir (also called Dawassir, Dossary, Dosery, Al-Dawasir, etc.) are Qahtanite (southern) Arabs of the Sabaean branch. They were historically influential, especially in Saudi Arabia, where they are connected to the House of Saud through intermarriage. In the 1920s, they played key roles in founding cities like Dammam and Khobar in the eastern province of Hasa (now Sharqiyah).

Their identity is deeply tied to tribal solidarity, landownership and historical prestige, especially through the powerful Sudairi subtribe. /p>

Flags used by the Dawasir Tribe

The tribe has a distinct flag, red with the name of the tribe "Dawasir" written in white or yellow.
There is also a flag with their (unofficial but widely adopted) tribal number 502 that is used by youth of Saudi Arabia.

It is written "l-Dwsr" on the flag, that's to say "Al-Dawasir" without diacritic.
