Sagitta (original) (raw)

Sagitta (abbreviation: Sge), the Arrow, is a very small northern constellation, located south of Vulpecula and north of Aquila, that shows clearly the shape of an arrow flying toward Cygnus. It contains the prototype WZ Sagittae star and M71 (NGC 6838), formerly thought to be an open cluster but now considered to be a globular cluster of low condensation. Binoculars show M71 as a misty, round patch (magnitude 8.3; diameter 7.2'; RA 19h 53.8 m, Dec +18° 47'). See below for details of the constellation's brightest stars and interesting deep sky objects.
