14 Sep 1934: Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Co., Ltd. — Directors recommend payment on October 1 of final dividends of 2½ per cent, on the preference shares and 3½ per cent. on the ordinary shares, making 5 per cent. on all shares for the year ended June 30, 1934.
21 Sep 1934: Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Co., Ltd. — Report for the year ended June 30, 1934, states that the gross profit, after providing for taxation, amounts to £145,415, and the net profit, after deducting debenture interest, depreciation and directors' remuneration, is £85,870. Balance from last year was £84,327, making £170,197. Interim dividends paid February 1, 1934, take £23,703, leaving an available balance of £146,494. The directors recommend that this sum be appropriated as follows : To final dividend of 2½ per cent. on the preference shares and 3 1/3 per cent, on the ordinary shares, less tax, payable on October 1, 1934, making a total dividend of 5 per cent, for the year, less tax, on all shares, £43,223: to reserve fund, £20,000; to be carried forward, £83,271. Following the policy indicated in the last report, a substantial proportion of the 6 per cent, debentures, which fell due for repayment on April 1, 1934, was repaid. Since that date, loans on debenture advanced to certain associated companies have been repaid, and the money not immediately required for other purposes has been invested in Government securities. With deep regret the directors record the death of the chairman, the late Rt. Hon. Lord Aberconway, P.C. Mr. W. H. McConnel has been appointed chairman in his place. The present Lord Aberconway has joined the board, and the directors have also appointed Mr. G. C. M. Jackson and Mr. Guy Nicholson as directors, both of whom have been actively concerned with the business for some time past. Lord Aberconway will retire at the annual general meeting next year, and the appointment of Mr. G. C. M. Jackson and Mr. Guy Nicholson will require to be confirmed at the meeting on the 24th inst.
