Occupation: Assistant Onsetter Notes: Buried: [not known] Category: Haulage :: Other Haulage Accidents Description A singular accident occurred at Wellington Colliery, Cumberland, by which two onsetters were killed, and two others sustained injury. These men were engaged, along with others at the shaft bottom, when a beam supporting a haulage pulley frame under the floor gave way, and the floor and pulley were flung upwards towards the roof. The men were entangled in the wreckage. The cause of the accident was the deterioration of the beam due to dry rot at one end where it was built into the brickwork 22 years ago.
