Williams, Evan, M.A. Born July 2, 1871. Chairman of Thos. Williams & Sons Ltd., Pacific Patent Fuel Col Ltd., Tredegar Iron & Coal Co. Ltd., and other colliery and manufacturing companies. President of Mining Association of Great Britain since 1919, and a member of Coal Industry Commission, which sat in 1919 and was presided over by Mr. Justice Sankey. Chairman of Conciliation Board for the Coal Trade of South Wales, and member of Board for Mining Examinations since 1912.

After completing his education at Cambridge he entered his father�s business. Was elected Chairman of Coal Owners� Association in South Wales in 1913, and President of Association and of the Conciliation Board since 1918. Was member of Sankey Commission in 1919. President of National Board for the Coal Industry, 1921-1925. Presided over the Joint Committee of Coal Owners� and Miners� representatives appointed to inquire into the condition of the coal industry, 1924-1925. Member of Advisory Committee of Secretary for Mines ; Chairman of Swansea District Collieries Rescue Association ; member of Central Coal & Coke Supplies Committee, and of Committee for Supply of Coal to France and Italy during the War ; President of the National Confederation of Employers� Organisations, 1925-1926 ; Chairman of Thos.
