Club(s) Appeared for Manchester School's B team and also played with junior clubs such as Ryder Brow BC of Gorton and Manchester's own Spurley Hey YC. Joined Blackburn Rovers FC as an amateur, turning professional in October 1958. He made 306 league appearances, scoring eight goals. Joined Everton FC in December 1969 for an £80,000 transfer fee and scored a solitary goals in 47 league appearances**. Joined Burnley FC in June 1972, retiring from the professional game in May 1978** after making 209 league appearances, scoring five goals**. He carried on as a semi-professional with Clitheroe FC and Morecambe FC, where he also managed.**
