�ireacht: The name of the cabinet or ministry in the D�il Constitution passed by the First D�il of the Irish Republic in January 1919. Consisted of a Priomh �ire (or prime minister, also called 'President of D�il �ireann') and ministers. The Pr�omh �ire was upgraded to President of the Republic (ie, full head of state) by a constitutional amendment proposed by Eamon de Valera and adopted by D�il �ireann in August 1921.

The �ireacht and the entire republican system of government was replaced by the Irish Free State in 1922.
