Gitta Sereny is a biographer.
Born a Hungarian in Austria, she read Hitler's Mein Kampf when she was on ly 11. Four years later, she heard him address a rally in Vienna.
She was briefly an observer at the Nuremberg trials, which she attended for four days in 1945.
