Jilin (吉林 ji2 lin2) is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the northeastern part of the country; along the border with North Korea. The name was transliterated to Kirin before standardization on pinyin.

Geography
Jilin borders Liaoning Province to the south, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the west, Heilongjiang Province to the north and Russia to the east and faces the Korean Peninsula across the Yalu River to the southeast.
The Changbai Mountains run through this region.
