Parade (ballet) (original) (raw)
The ballet "Parade" of 1917 was the first of Picasso's collaborations with Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, and heralded a new age in both modern ballet and the Parisian avant-garde. Scorned by audiences and praised by critics, it brought common street entertainments to the elite in a one-act ballet written by Jean Cocteau and composed by Erik Satie.
