Sheen (original) (raw)
Sheen General
An area of Southwest London nearby to Barnes, Roehampton, Putney to the east, and Richmond to the west. It is commonly split into two areas, East Sheen and North Sheen.
East Sheen
East Sheen is a green and leafy mainly residential area, with its main high street being the Upper Richmond Road, which contains many high street shops and facilities. The close proximity to Sheen Gate of the vast Richmond Park means that houses in 'parkside' East Sheen are much in demand, and thus very expensive. Other facilities include Palewell Common, which has a playground, playing fields and a pitch and putt course. There are a number of local schools, most centrally being Sheen Comprehensive.
Public transport is mainly via buses, as the nearest train station is Mortlake to the north, and the nearest Tube station is East Putney. Buses run to, amongst other destinations, Hammersmith, Putney and Tooting.
It is part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames
North Sheen
(Need details on North Sheen - In all my years living in East Sheen, I never really visited it :D)
