Shrek is a computer-animated adaptation of William Steig's fairy tale released by DreamWorks in the summer of 2001. The film features the voices of Mike Myers as a large green ogre, Cameron Diaz as a princess, Eddie Murphy as a talkative donkey, and John Lithgow as a vain prince. The film was the first to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature--a category new to 2001.
The soundtrack includes music by Smash Mouth, The Proclaimers, Jason Wade and Rufus Wainwright.
