Springfield is a town located in Otsego County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,350.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 117.7 km² (45.5 mi²). 111.3 km² (43.0 mi²) of it is land and 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.46% water.

census of 2000, there are 1,350 people, 521 households, and 375 families residing in the town. The population density is 12.1/km² (31.4/mi²). There are 712 housing units at an average density of 6.4/km² (16.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.59% White, 0.15% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. 1.19% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 521 households out of which 32.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.1% are married couples living together, 6.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 22.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.59 and the average family size is 3.04. In the town the population is spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
