Switch hitter (original) (raw)
In baseball, a switch-hitter is a batter able to hit from both the right and left sides of the homeplate.
The strategic advantage behind this ability, is the advantage that the batter has over the pitcher. Right-handed batters generally perform better against left-handed versus right-handed pitchers and left-handed batters generally perform better against right-handed versus left-handed pitchers. This is due to the angle in which the ball approaches homeplate.
