The Modular Decontamination System (MDS) consists of one XM21 Decontaminant Pumper (DP) module and two XM22 High Pressure Washer modules. Each module may be transported on a 3/4-ton trailer towed by an M1037 HMMWV and operated from the trailer. The MDS will be supported by ASIOE consisting of two 3000 gallon, self-supporting, fabric waster tanks; one 125 GPM water pump, and a 3/4-ton trailer for each module. The MDS will be fielded to the dual-purpose smoke/chemical companies, replacing the M12A1 Skid Mounted Decontamination Apparatus and the M17 Lightweight Decontamination System. The system will be supported by standard Army logistics and will be maintained with standard tools.
