GREG W. 20 SEPT. 2020 RE: DANIEL 9:25-27 (original) (raw)
Hi Greg,
I am in complete agreement with your excellent and comprehensive letter concerning Daniel 9:25-27. I am glad you found Romans 15:8 pertinent to correctly understanding Daniel 9:25-27.
God's promises to Abraham were to become confirmed covenant promises at the time they were fulfilled. God's third promise to Abraham of blessing all the families of the world through Abraham's seed became confirmed covenant with the first advent of Jesus Christ according to Roman's 15:8 "to confirm the promises made unto the fathers".
The following is my understanding of Daniel's 70 weeks :
Scripture tells us that Jesus was baptized at approximately30 years of age at which time Jesus officially became the Messiah when God anointed Him to begin His ministry as the Messiah at 30 years of age.
Daniel's "Seventy weeks" are seventy "seven week units of time" = 490 weeks total until completion .
Daniel 9:25 states , "UNTO THE MESSIAH" there shall be 69 complete weeks of elapse time which means Jesus begins His ministry as the Messiah at age 30 at the end of 69 weeks and at the beginning of the 70th week of Daniel. The Messionic ministry of Jesus was for a period of 3 1/2 years from the beginning of Daniel's 70th week after which time He was "cut-off in the midst of the 70th week of Daniel at age 33 1/2 years. That leaves the last 3 1/2-year period of the 70th week yet to be fulfilled in the future.
Your brother in Christ,
Garry B
