a falling away (original) (raw)
I had always been taught that:
II Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
That the falling away was similar to:
I Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
as well as:
II Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
But recently, I've heard more and more people teaching the upsidasium view, that the falling away, is some kind of "falling upwards", away from the earth.
i.e. some kind of very strong, anti-gravity force, causing people to "fall up", instead of falling down.
However, caught up doesn't sound like, "fall-up", to me.
The phrase, "a falling away", still sounds like it is describing apostasy, at least to me.
Are there any, here, on FiveDoves, who hold the upsidasium view?
