During Arveleg's reign, Arthedain stood alone against Angmar, with both Cardolan and Rhudaur under the influence of the Witch-king, though we have no records of any major battles during this time. Arveleg II ruled Arthedain for seventy years, and was succeeded by his son Araval. Notes 1 The date of Arveleg's birth appears only in The History of Middle-earth volume XII, The Peoples of Middle-earth. It cannot therefore be considered completely reliable. 2 Arveleg II was presumably named for his great-great-grandfather Arveleg I, who died in the defence of Weathertop. See also...
