Ancalagon The greatest of all the flying Dragons, Ancalagon was loosed from Angband during the War of Wrath that brought the First Age to an end. After an immense aerial battle, he was defeated by Eärendil, and his fall from the skies caused the destruction of the mountains of Thangorodrim. Ulfang An Easterling who came into Beleriand late in the First Age. He feigned alliance with Caranthir's people, but was secretly in league with Morgoth. In the great battle known as the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, his three sons betrayed the Noldor, and helped turn the battle into a victory for Angband.
