Filibert belonged to the same family as the better known Fredegar 'Fatty' Bolger, but while these two were clearly related in some way, no detailed family record for the Bolgers exists, at least in the canonical works. However, there are records in volume XII of The History of Middle-earth suggesting that they were distant cousins, both descended through several generations from one Adalgar Bolger. See also...
