When he died in III 1149, his heir Atanatar inherited a kingdom that stretched from the river Greyflood in the north to the Sea of Rhûn in the east, and received tribute from the Haradrim to the south. As King of this great land, Atanatar II gained the Elvish title Alcarin, meaning 'Glorious'.
