While miruvor was sweet-tasting and filled the drinker with new hope, the Orc-draughts were an unpleasant, burning liquid that nonetheless filled the drinker with warmth for a time, and took away the pain of wounds. The origins of the Orc-draughts are unknown; the only known use was by Uglúk, an Uruk in the service of Saruman. This may be taken to imply that the liquor was devised by the White Wizard (though conceivably the Uruks may have been given its secret by the Dark Lord, or it may even have been a speciality of the Orcs themselves).
