In Quenya, the same day was called Elenya, with the same meaning. Historically, this Elvish naming convention was passed on to the Númenóreans (who made it the first day of a seven-day week), and so on to the peoples of Middle-earth. The ancient Hobbits used the Mannish translation of the name, Sterrendei, which by Frodo's time its name in the Shire was Sterday. See also...
