Morgoth's curse on Húrin and his kinfrom Unfinished Tales Part One II_Narn i Hîn Húrin_ A long tale from the histories of the First Age of the world, and indeed the longest to come from that time. It tells the story of Húrin, Morwen and their ill-fated children Lalaith, Túrin, and Niënor. In the Tale, Morgoth captured Húrin in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and set a curse on him, his wife, and their children. Thereafter, the story traces the life of Húrin's son Túrin as he travels through Beleriand, followed by disaster and sorrow wherever he goes, until his life, and that of his sister Niënor, reach their inevitable and tragic ends. Notes 1 Húrin and his family originated among the Men of Dor-lómin (and at the beginning of the tale, Húrin is lord of that land) but as the tale develops, the members of the family are dispersed across Beleriand. They encounter various other cultures and peoples as they cross the land. Most notably, Húrin's son Túrin is raised among the Elves of Doriath, and later dwells among the Gaurwaith, the Elves of Nargothrond and the Men of Brethil. See also...
