The dwellings of Willowbottom stood on either side of Thistle Brook, near the point where that stream emptied its waters into the river Shirebourn. The origins of Willowbottom's name imply that it stood in the bottom of the brook's valley, along a stretch of water bordered by willow trees. It was connected to the rest of the Shire by a single road, running eastwards for about fifteen miles towards the village of Deephallow on the Brandywine. See also...
