Fire Control Data Flow, 1914 (original) (raw)
RN Fire Control Data Flow, 1914
The following chart is from the article The Science of Organisation, published in The Naval Review of 1914. Traditionally, the authors were anonymous, but the author was identified as Captain G. P. Orde, Royal Marine Light Infantry, thanks to the list published by James Goldrick in Mahan is Not Enough- the Proceedings of a Conference on the Works of Sir Julian Corbett and Admiral Sir Hubert Richmond (edited by James Goldrick and John B. Hattendorf, Naval War College Press, 1993).
The article itself doesn't furnish anything of value as to RN fire control, but the chart is an excellent depiction of how the data flowed between the gunnery control position in the Foretop and the guns.
