Named 1984 Nov 08 for Nikolaj Pavlovich Barabashov (1894-1971) [MPC009216].

Companion discovered 2019 Dec 17 by R. Durkee, P. Pravec, H. Kucakova, and K. Hornoch using lightcurve observations from Shed of Science South Observatory, Pontotoc, Texas, USA; Ondrejov Observatory. Announced 2020 Feb 05 [D20a].
