| | Date of birth unknown. Son or adopted son of Nakayama Bunshichi IV, he started his career in kodomo shibai from the beginning of the 1850s, where he performed under the name of Nakayama Ihachi III. He spent some years in hama shibai. He became nadai and took the name of Nakayama Bungor� III in the 1st lunar month of 1870 at the Naka no Shibai, playing 3 roles in the new year drama "Keisei Koi no Ishikawa". This d�kegata (and also katakiyaku) actor was active and popular on �saka stages up to 1878. He made his last stage appearance in July 1878, at the Naka no Shibai, where he played the role of the tedai Ch�kur� in the drama "Meisaku Kiriko no Akebono". He died the 1st of September 1879. He was said to look and act like Nakayama Bungor� II and had both a great presence on stage and a high-quality k�seki. |
