He started his career in saka and his first stage name was Nakayama Hisajir. He became a disciple of the actor Arashi Hinasuke I, who gave him the name of Arashi Shinpei III in the 11th lunar month of 1788. He revived the name of Sadoshima Chgor, becoming the second of this line at the end of 1793 although his relationship with the Sadoshima clan is not clear (he is listed as a disciple of Sadoshima Chgor I in the book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten" but it is quite unbelievable as the master died in 1757 and the disciple was born in 1768). He finally became a disciple of Nakayama Bunshichi II in Fall 1794 and took the name of Nakayama Bunz. He went to Edo in Fall 1805 and took the name of Nakayama Raisuke IV in the 11th lunar month of 1805 at the Kawarasakiza, performing in the drama "Ch Hanagata Koi Muko Genji". He went to Nagoya the following year and to Kamigata in 1807. He was active in Kamigata and Nagoya up to his death in saka the 23rd day of the 8th lunar month of 1815 [1]. He was a tachiyaku actor, whose fields of excellence were jitsugoto and wagoto. He was not at ease in delivering his lines and did not achieve a huge fame for himself because of this problem. | | | | | | | | | | Nakayama Raisuke IV playing the role of Todoroki Dengoemon in the "Hytandana" scene of the drama "Hikosan Gongen Chikai no Sukedachi", which was staged in the 9th lunar month of 1810 in saka at the Naka no Shibai | | | | | Nakayama Raisuke V Nakayama Raisuke V In Japanese | Arashi Jusabur II In Japanese | Arashi Toraz In Japanese | | | | | Dates of birth and death unknown. He became disciple of the star Arashi Rikan II and received the name of Arashi Toraz around 1827. Later on, he took the name of Arashi Jusabur II. He became a disciple of Nakayama Shinkur IV at the beginning of the Tenp era and was allowed to take the name of Nakayama Raisuke V in 1832 before a tour to Nagoya. Afterwards, the only notable fact occurred in 1860, when he became the zagashira of the Takeda no Shibai, a hama shibai venue, where he performed in the 1st lunar month of 1860 in "Hana no Ani Tsubomi no Yatsufusa", "Sakigake Genpei Tsutsuji", "Katakiuchi Tsuzure no Nishiki" and "Koi Musume Nishiki Esugata".
