The Monster Book of Monsters ed. Michael O’Shaughnessy (Xanadu 0-947761-42-X, May ’88 [Jun ’88], £9.95, 349pp, hc) Marvellous anthology of 50 sf/fantasy/horror stories that range from the well-known to the obscure. First in a new series of anthologies that, on the strength of this one, will be well worth watching for. (PSP)


The Monster Book of Monsters ed. Michael O’Shaughnessy (Crown/Bonanza 0-517-66293-0, Aug ’88, $7.98, 352pp, hc) Anthology of 50 stories about monsters, but not necessarily horror stories. The subheadings run from “A is for Aliens, Androids, Aaaargh” to “Z is for Zombie.” This edition was printed in England, apparently simultaneously with a British one from Xanadu Press. It’s an instant remainder book available only in Waldenbooks, Dalton’s, etc.
