I am in favour of both proposals.
Start supply of coal and foodstuffs to Petrograd right away; sign right away.
Accept Nansen’s terms: he will send one man.
Lenin
Notes
[1] Written on a letter from V. M. Molotov, Secretary of the R.C.P.(B.) C.C., who put to the vote of the Politbureau members two proposals: = 1) to authorise a commission of P. A. Bogdanov and G. V. Tsyperovich to draft an agreement with the German consortium on its participation in rehabilitating the metal industry of Petrograd; and = 2) Fridtjof Nansen’s proposal to send food to the population of Petrograd. Both were adopted by the Politbureau on July 11, 1921.
