Name:
Named in 1832 by Charles Upham Shepard in honor of Dr Gerard Troost (1776-1850), mineralogist and botanist, State Geologist of Tennessee.

A Mn-bearing variety of willemite with MnO contents above 3 mass% (up to 12 mass% and may be more).
