#18022 Shaolin Double Steel Whips Demonstrator: Shi DeCi This fast moving and showy set starts with an aerial cartwheel even before the double whips come out to play. This is a more physically demanding form with stunts such as ground flowers, bumping while bring the whips beneath one's hips, holding both whips in the right hand while holding the left foot up at head height. That sort of thing. The main motions with whips are based on large, simple but very fast whirling actions. Make sure you get light weight whips to learn this one and possibly a motorcycle helmet. #18023 Shaolin Yin Hand Staff Demonstrator: Shi DeCi The Shaolin staff has been, during its history, one of the highest level staff arts in the world. Shaolin boasts an incredible number of sets with this weapon. Many of them are more for show than function. The "Yin Hand" staff refers to the gripping of the staff in one of the two primary staff methods. In Yin hand both hands grip the staff with the palms down in its normal, level position. This set mainly emphasizes this method with an occasional use of the Yin Yang hand with palms opposed. This is one of the more practical of the Shaolin sets demonstrated, the Yin hand method emphasizing hooking backward actions and, in this case, some nice coordination between hands and legs another feature of this shorter armed, more southern influenced disciplineAbout 40 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles see above discounts |
#18024 Shaolin Baji Quan Demonstrator: Shi DeCi This set, which combines some of the flavor of BajiQuan and Shaolin Quan is based on Da Baji. From this core it also adds many movements including classic Shaolin poses and some jump kicks. The range of Shaolin Kung Fu is huge and there is consistency to the system. But as many styles were "collected" in the Temple there was also a necessary reduction of the individuality of some of these arts. Thus, as the old joke runs, Shaolin Baji relates to the general world of Baji the way military marches relate to the world of music. Important historically and if you want a Shaolin filter for other arts. About 57 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles see above discounts |
#18025 Shaolin Yin Yang Staff Demonstrator: Shi DeCi **OUT OF STOCK! Please place me on your WANT LIST for this item. This is a much more complicated set than that of the Yin Hand staff. The "other" way of gripping the staff is the Yin Yang method where one palm faces up and the other faces down. This set has many neat and challenging moves along with some just showy actions. The only real problem runs like this: despite its term of "Northern" Shaolin is not really a Long Arm system. Thus it¹s use of the classic hand position of Yin Yang should emphasize the "spear like" attributes of the staff in true Northern fashion. But Shaolin is so "middle arm" that even in this the Yin Yang staff the hand position is about 60% Yin Hand and about 90% Yin Hand usage with only a scattered application based on the real hand position. Nonetheless some interesting parts. About 41 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles |
#18026 Shaolin Mantis: Insertion Hammer Demonstrator: Shi De Jun This form brings the Long Arm aspects of the Mantis style into play at a higher level than any of the others in this series. There are many distinct Mantis action but there are also "hammering" movements which resemble nothing so much as LuoHan branch of Shaolin. This form requires skill for angle, tempo and distance changes of a medium to higher level.. Demonstrator: Shi DeJunAbout 44 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles see above discounts |
#18027 Shaolin Mantis: White Ape Giving Presents to the Mother Demonstrator: Shi De Jun Praying Mantis is often called the last major style to come out of the Temple. Therefore we must not expect the highest, most refined Mantis to necessarily be the Shaolin variety since most of the Mantis was developed AFTER leaving the temple. Here the hands are fast. The stances representative of the Mantis. The movements are mostly "Gang" or firm. The actions are short to medium with an occasional whip punch. But, overall, there is very little showbiz going on in this version of the Shaolin Seven Star branch. Very advanced Mantis practitioners will probably find all this basic but, for the newer practitioner, there are still many challenging sequences.About 53 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles see above discounts |
#18028 Shaolin Mantis: White Ape Offering Book Demonstrator: Shi De Jun This set is a more basic element of the "White Ape" series. First, because there are more lines with a single action repeated on both sides in a marching fashion. In addition there are entire sections of the form which reprise, move for move before varying, sequences from Beng Bu. We might even classify this as a "linking form" which, in itself, can be very useful for the acquisition of certain, specified basic skills. #18029 Shaolin Mantis: White Ape Offers Fruit Demonstrator: Shi De Jun This is considered one of the classic Mantis forms from the Shaolin perspective. It is relatively short but has interesting and distinctive body angles. It also utilizes the "guiding hand." Some of the sequences are particularly fast and there is a lot of body dropping. Sometimes this is taught immediately after Beng Bu. A solid, compact representative of this version of the Seven Star Mantis.About 45 Minutes Mandarin/ English Subtitles see above discounts |
#18030 Shaolin Mantis: The Plum Blossom Road Demonstrator: Shi De JunThis is a fundamental form in this series with its emphasis on clear compliments like soft and hard, open and closed.
