The Clash were formed in 1976 during the growing punk wave which they embraced and defined into the 1980's. The Clash consisted of Mick Jones, Joe Strummer (who left The 101'ers for the band), Paul Simonon, Terry Chimes, and Keith Levene (who left the band soon after it formed). Their first major gig came with the 'Anarchy In The UK' tour with The Sex Pistols.
The Clash is released in the UK (and in the US 2 years later).
