We're designing something for use in the clubs for DJs and we know exactly what we built it for." - Redfoo, LMFAO LMFAO consists of the duo Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) and SkyBlu (Skyler Gordy) and formed in 2006 based in California. Redfoo, a former day trader, is the son of Motown founder Berry Gordy, and SkyBlu is Redfoo's half-nephew. In 2008, LMFAO signed with Interscope Records and continued working the club circuit. Also in 2008, they released their first single "I'm In Miami Trick" which hit the Billboard Hot 100 but didn't become a pop hit until the following year. The duo's sound can be described as hip-hop and rap influenced, dance-oriented, party music - some have called it simply 'party rock'. Redfoo has said of their sound: "The goal of our music is to have every sound to rock the crowd. It is like party rock. Girls get crazier and people have more fun." June 27: LMFAO hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 with "I'm In Miami Trick" (the LP version is called "I'm In Miami Bitch"). July 7: LMFAO released Party Rock (available for download at iTunes and Amazon-mp3). October 17: LMFAO hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 with "La La La." May 22: LMFAO hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 helping out David Guetta, Chris Willis and Fergie with "Gettin' Over You." June 12: LMFAO topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart for 1 week helping out David Guetta, Chris Willis and Fergie with "Gettin' Over You." June 12: LMFAO topped the UK singles chart for 1 week helping out David Guetta, Chris Willis and Fergie with "Gettin' Over You." The song also topped the charts in France, Scotland, and Slovakia. June 19: LMFAO topped the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart for 2 weeks helping out David Guetta, Chris Willis and Fergie with "Gettin' Over You." January 30: LMFAO were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album (Party Rock). February 15: SkyBlu reportedly got into an altercation with presidential-wannabe Mitt Romney on a flight to California. SkyBlu was asked to leave the plane after refusing to put his seat up and reportedly having a physical confrontation with Romney. SkyBlu has reported that it was Romney who became physical first when he put a 'vulcan grip' on his neck from behind. April 16: LMFAO hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 with "Party Rock Anthem." The song also features Lauren Bennett and GoonRock. April 23: LMFAO topped the UK singles chart for 4 weeks with "Party Rock Anthem." The song also topped the charts in Australia (for 10 weeks), Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand (for 11 weeks), Slovakia, and Switzerland. June 4: LMFAO topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart for 19 weeks with "Party Rock Anthem." June 18: LMFAO hit the Top 10 with "Party Rock Anthem." June 21: LMFAO released Sorry For Party Rocking (available for download at iTunes and Amazon-mp3). The LP hit the Top 20 in Australia, Canada, France, and the UK. Entertainment Weekly wasn't too kind with its review describing the group's dance-pop focus "...topped off by truly terrible rapping, which often turns otherwise groan-inspiring instrumentals into jumbled, maddening filler." Rolling Stone described the LP as "...brain-cell depleting jams." July 2: LMFAO topped the Billboard Rap Digital Songs chart for 13 weeks with "Party Rock Anthem." July 9: LMFAO topped the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart for 5 weeks with "Party Rock Anthem." July 16: LMFAO topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 6 weeks, Hot Digital Songs chart for 6 weeks, and Digital Tracks chart for 6 weeks with "Party Rock Anthem."
