At The Disco began in Las Vegas with friends Ryan Ross on guitar and Spencer Smith on drums. The duo added Brent Wilson on bass and Brendon Urie on vocals and guitar. Their big break came by having their music heard by Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, and after a meeting, the group was signed by Fueled by Ramen Records. By 2015, Panic! At The Disco was more of a solo project for Urie as members had the left the group the over the years. September 27: Panic! At The Disco released A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. December 31: Spin magazine named Panic! At The Disco the 'Band of the Day.' April 28: A Fever You Can't Sweat Outwas certified gold. May 17: Bassist Brent Wilson left the group (saying later he was fired) and Jon Walker was named temporary bassist while on tour and eventually a member of the group. May 27: Panic! At The Disco hit the ARC Weekly Top 40with "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." July 1: Panic! At The Disco hit the Top 10 with "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." July 10: A Fever You Can't Sweat Outwas certified platinum. August: Former bassist Brent Wilson began legal proceedings against his former group for unpaid royalties. August 15: Panic! At The Disco could be heard on the soundtrack for Snakes On A Plane: The Album with the track "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage" (Tommie Sunshine Brooklyn Fire Remix). August 31: The video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" won a MTV Video Music Awardfor Video of the Year, and was nominated for Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, Best New Artist, and Best Art Direction.
