Keith Lionel Urban was born October 26, 1967 in Australia. Urban's music interest came early with success in local singing contests and forming a band in his early teens. At 15, Urban dropped out of school to pursue his music. By the early 1990s, Urban had signed with EMI in Australia and topped the Australian country charts with 4 singles. By the mid 1990s, Urban had moved to the US to find success and formed the bandThe Ranch after doing guitar work for Brooks & Dunn. By 1998, Urban decided to go solo and after getting treatment for a cocaine problem he began the journey toward topping the US country charts.
