The outstanding Dutch player obtained 3 international caps with his National Team. He also played 46 matches for the National Team of Surinam, but it is not clear how many of these are full internationals (in many cases, opponents were club teams or non-FIFA members like British Guiana and Trinidad); however, it is known he played in two matches against Curaçao in the summer of 1954, so he did play for two National Teams.
He was the first Surinam-born player in the Dutch team and its first 'coloured' player.

NB: as British Guiana did not obtain F.I.F.A. membership until 1968, it is unclear whether the matches between the two colonies can be considered official. Mĳnals certainly played more matches for Surinam against British Guiana and Trinidad (which did not obtain F.I.F.A. membership until 1963).

NB: Mĳnals reportedly played 46 matches for Surinam; that total must include several unofficial matches but certainly also a number of additional official ones.
