The outstanding Dutch 'keeper, who obtained 130 international caps with his National Team, has entered the symbolic but exclusive circle of players with a Century of Caps.

He held the Dutch capsrecord from June 21, 2006 (when he equalled the total of Frank de Boer) until June 9, 2017 (when his total was surpassed by Wesley Sneĳder). He holds the Dutch capsrecord for goalkeepers since August 20, 2003 (when he equalled the total of Hans van Breukelen).

He established a record series of 38 consecutive appearances (caps 71-108) which was not interrupted by any other matches of the Dutch national team. This broke the previous record of 35 established by Roel Wiersmabetween 1954 and 1959.
